Session is an upcoming skateboarding video game developed by Montreal independent developer Crea-ture Studios (stylized as creā-ture Studios Inc.) for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One. It was released into Steam Early Access on 17 September 2019, with a full release to be announced for a later date. The project was successfully funded via Kickstarter in November 2017, within three days of its opening.

The game was considered by many as the spiritual successor to the Skate series.[1]
Gameplay[edit]
Session is an open-ended video game, promised to exclude a scoring system and include a different control scheme.[2] The game is presented in the style of a fish-eye lens from a mini DV format camera.[3]
Development[edit]
Session was conceived in 2015 under the working title Project: Session.[3] Between then and the two years that followed, many fans and outlets discussed a major need for a new skateboarding game.[2] Developer Marc-Andre Houde described the inspiration for the game as a passion for the sport.[4] Houde also stated the game would be developed using Unreal Engine 4. Originally, the team had planned to build the game in Unity, but the team was attracted to Unreal's multiplayer capabilities.[5]
In early November 2017, Crea-ture Studios released a free demo for Session.[6][7] A trailer released by the team shows several clips of the demo, which is set in an unnamed jail and allows players to freely skate in a closed skatepark.[8] Later that month, the team opened the project on Kickstarter, which successfully reached its initial goal after three days.[9]

A trailer for Session was unveiled during the Microsoft conference at E3 2018.[10]
Session was released on Steam Early Access on 17 September 2019,[11] and is expected to be released on Xbox Game Preview sometime in 2020.[12]

On February 19, Session Xbox One details will finally be revealed. Additionally, a new update launches which may add a Skate-inspired control scheme.
It seems Xbox players looking for a skateboarding sim game may not have to wait too much longer. Creā-ture Studios announced there will be some Session Xbox One news in just a few days. Additionally, they’ll reveal new features and a new level.
Shared by creā-ture Studios via Twitter, Wednesday, February 19 will be the day we’ll get the “Xbox One news you’ve waited for.” While it isn’t explicitly stated, this surely means a release date for the Session Xbox One version will be announced. Whether that date will be next Wednesday or sometime in the near future is not yet known.

The video shown in the tweet, which can be seen above, teases Update 0.0.0.3, which does release on February 19. This update will include the previously mentioned new features and level. Specific details have not yet been revealed. However, a tease for a Skate-like control scheme for Session was recently posted on creā-ture Studios’ Twitter.

The Session Xbox One version was originally announced back in 2018 during the E3 2018 Xbox press conference. It was previously slated for an October 2019 release for Microsoft’s platform but was, unfortunately, delayed. However, it did not miss its PC release date, with creā-ture regularly supporting the game with updates.
